Dr. Katherine McNeilDr. Katherine McNeil (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow with several years of experience treating individuals, families, and groups from diverse backgrounds and across the lifespan. Dr. McNeil has particular areas of specialty in trauma, eating concerns, identity work (particularly gender and sexuality), anxiety, and relational difficulties. Additionally, her graduate research focused primarily on adolescent sexual assault, specifically treatment through bibliotherapy (use of books in therapy).

Dr. McNeil also has a background in neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment with children and adolescents and can provide guidance on navigating testing and special education services.

Dr. McNeil operates from an integrative lens that allows treatment to be tailored to fit each individual and family’s unique needs and background. Dr. McNeil often draws from Emotion-Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, among other orientations. She also frequently uses creative forms of expression in therapy, such as art, books, and movement, to support clients in telling their story through whatever medium feels right. Dr. McNeil employs a collaborative, holistic approach emphasizing the importance of addressing presenting concerns within the context of the wider systems. It is highly important to Dr. McNeil to continually grow as an identity affirming and anti-racist clinician.

Dr. McNeil has completed clinical work and training in various settings, including integrative healthcare, college counseling, private practice, and at the Department of Child and Family’s school based center.
