Dr. Erica Ligons is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 5 years of experience who contracts with the Chicago Center for Growth and Change to provide therapy services. She has experience treating adults, children, adolescents, and families from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Ligons speaks Spanish fluently and is able to provide therapy services in Spanish for those who prefer a bilingual therapist.
Dr. Ligons specializes in working with adults and children with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, school and behavioral concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Dr. Ligons is also trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD, Psychodrama & Sociometry, and evidence-based parenting strategies.
Prior to her work with the Chicago Center for Growth and Change, Dr. Ligons was a Staff Psychologist at Mount Sinai Hospital-Under the Rainbow Program for five years. During her time at Mount Sinai, she provided individual/group supervision and didactic instruction. Furthermore, she created a psychoeducation group for parents with children who have experienced a mental health crisis. Dr. Ligons has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospitals and community mental health centers and was in various roles at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center’s (AIMMC) Behavioral Health Services (i.e., outpatient therapist and psychodrama group facilitator).
Dr. Ligons also utilizes her training in Sociometry to conduct team-building seminars for educators and clinicians. She uses sociometric theory to help various organizations and companies improve relational dynamics in the workplace.
